LANSING, Mich. — Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich (D–Flint) issued the following statement in response to the Republican health care plan unveiled in the U.S. Senate this morning:

“I would be hard-pressed to think of a more disastrous, out-of-touch health care ‘plan.’ With half of newborns and 60 percent of seniors in nursing homes receiving Medicaid, what you’re really doing when you slash Medicaid is stealing health care from our most vulnerable and leaving them behind to fend for themselves. Not to mention that the opioid crisis continues to hurt every community in America – the Republican plan will undoubtedly shrink resources for those struggling with addiction. Health care should be a right for all, not just reserved for certain constituencies who are more inclined to pad the campaign bank accounts of Republican politicians.”
