WESTLAND, Mich. — State Senator Hoon-Yung Hopgood (D–Taylor) invited members of the community to his Third Annual Free Veterans Day Movie Event today in acknowledgement of the tremendous sacrifice and service of America’s military veterans.

The event, which was coordinated with help from MJR Westland Grand Cinema 16 and John Glenn High School JROTC, featured a free screening of “Thank You for Your Service.” More than 140 veterans, and their families, attended.

Sen. Hopgood welcomed veterans at the event, and the JROTC was able to provide a short program for them before the movie.

“Offering an event in honor of our hometown heroes is the least we can do to thank them for their service to our country,” Sen. Hopgood said. “I’m hoping we’ll be able to continue events like this in the future so that we can truly show our appreciation to the men and women who have so bravely defended our country.”

Sen. Hopgood thanks MJR Digital Cinemas, John Glenn High School JROTC, Taylor Chevrolet, Buffalo Wild Wings – Westland, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, MI Talent Investment Agency, Give An Hour Organization and the Detroit VA Healthcare System for making this event possible.
