Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich on Senate Appropriations Committee Passage of Flint Water Supplemental

LANSING, Mich. — Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich (D–Flint) issued the following statement after the Senate Appropriations Committee passed a $28 million supplemental to address the ongoing Flint water crisis:

“This down payment is a good step toward the type of comprehensive fixes Flint deserves. I appreciate that we were able to increase resources for nutrition and early education so that my community will start to see real, tangible help sooner rather than later. The next challenge is to make sure we hold people accountable to use these funds in the way local experts and people on the ground recommend. We also must make sure people live up to their word about future budgets demonstrating a long-term commitment to righting this horrible wrong. That includes the financial relief our citizens so desperately need and the infrastructure changes that have to happen.”
