Minority Leader Jim Ananich on Senate committee vote in support of Flint legislation

LANSING, Mich. — Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich (D–Flint) issued the following statement on today’s passage of Flint-related bills by the Government Operations committee:

“I appreciate Leader Meekhof and members of the committee taking up and approving this important legislation. As for the Promise Zone scholarship for Flint, our community deserves some hope for a brighter future, and making it more affordable for our students to go to college is a big part of that. It’s a step in the right direction to have progress on these measures, but we know there are many more policy reforms necessary to make this right and prevent anything like this crisis from happening again.”
