Ananich Joins Senate Agriculture Committee

LANSING, Mich. —  Senate Democratic Leader Jim Ananich (D–Flint) will be joining the Agriculture Committee as Minority Vice Chair. He requested the position as part of committee changes that will occur after the swearing-in of Sen. Ian Conyers (D–Detroit).

“Agriculture is a powerful engine for our economy, the Genesee County area and across Michigan,” Sen. Ananich said. “Increasing access to healthy, locally-grown food is also a priority for my community and I’m looking forward to contributing to that effort.”

As a member of the House of Representatives, Ananich served as the Minority Vice Chair for the Agriculture and Rural Development Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee, and as a member of the Agriculture Committee.

In the Senate, he also currently serves as the Minority Vice Chair of the Senate Government Operations Committee.
