Sen. Ananich on Gov. Snyder’s School Safety Work Group Announcement

LANSING, Mich. – Today, Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich (D-Flint) issued the following statement in response to Governor Rick Snyder’s announcement on school safety:

“The time for just talking or studying what to do about guns is over – it’s time to act. Democrats in the Senate have a serious plan to improve the security of our school buildings, partner with local law enforcement and increase the number of counselors in our schools.

“The governor’s immediate commitment to school safety amounts to $2 million and a work group to study the issue. We can do better than that. I encourage the governor to take a serious look at our plan to make Michigan schools safer.”

More information about the plan put forth by Democrats in the Senate is available here.
