Sen. Ananich on passage of “Raise The Age” legislation

LANSING, Mich.–Today, Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich (D-Flint) issued the following statement after the Senate passed legislation to increase the age at which a person can be criminally tried as an adult:

“Today, the Senate took great steps to make our justice system a fairer system for young people who deserve a fair shot at rehabilitation and righting their wrongs. Senators Santana and Lucido set a tone of bipartisanship early on in this session and I ask that my colleagues keep in that spirit as we continue to tackle Michigan’s most pressing issues. We can work in a collaborative manner, and today’s votes were proof of that.”
