LANSING, Mich. (Feb. 11, 2026) — Senate Appropriations Chair Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing) has issued the following statement in response to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s FY 2027 state budget spending proposal that was presented to the Senate and House Appropriations committees this afternoon:
“While the revenue landscape has shifted, my commitment to delivering real results for the people of Michigan remains unchanged. Building on the historic investments we’ve secured for Michiganders over the past three years, my Senate Democratic colleagues and I will continue to be laser-focused on crafting a balanced, fiscally responsible state budget — one that is passed on time and provides meaningful relief for those who need it most.
“From lowering costs to protecting Michiganders’ access to health care, I’m encouraged to see the governor’s 2027 budget plan reflect many of the Senate’s priorities to uplift children, families, and communities while shielding them from the chaos and uncertainty caused by the reckless actions of our federal government. I look forward to partnering with her on solutions that address the challenges facing residents across the state, including by building on my efforts to expand the Homestead Property Tax Credit and put more dollars into the pockets of hardworking Michiganders. I am committed to collaborating with my colleagues both across the aisle and across the chamber to get this done.”
