(Jan. 13, 2022) \u2014 Sen.\u00a0<b>Sarah Anthony<\/b>\u00a0(D-Lansing) has issued the following statement\u00a0regarding the Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference (CREC) taking place today:<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span><\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cCREC is a glimpse into how people are doing economically and what the future holds for our residents and revenues,\u201d said Sen. Anthony. \u201cWhile today\u2019s presentation got very technical, one thing is abundantly clear: Today\u2019s estimates bode well for the Majority\u2019s policy agenda and first budget process.\u201d<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI look forward to working with my colleagues to craft a responsible budget that reflects the priorities of hardworking Michigan families and infuses diverse voices in the process every step of the way. Now is the time to get results for the Michigan people.\u201d<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>CREC is held at least twice a year, in January and May, and the January\u00a0CREC starts the annual budget process for the State of Michigan.\u00a0The revenue forecast adopted in the January conference is the starting point for the Governor&#8217;s executive budget, while\u00a0the May\u00a0conference provides an update to the forecast prior to the final budget enactment.\u00a0CREC is led by\u00a0the Director of the House Fiscal Agency, Director of the Senate Fiscal Agency and either the State Treasurer or State Budget Director.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u00a0<\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span><i>###<\/i><\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LANSING, Mich.
