Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy, and Michiganders understand its importance. In fact, Michigan consistently ranks high in voter participation, with 63.3% of eligible voters casting ballots in recent general elections — making us fourth in the nation. This year, with so much at stake, it’s more important than ever for everyone to make their voices heard by voting.
There’s Still Time to Register and Vote! If you haven’t registered yet, don’t worry — you can still do so! You have until Election Day itself to register by visiting your local city or township clerk’s office. The best part? You can register and vote at the same time, ensuring your voice is counted.
While it’s encouraged to register as soon as possible, if you wait until Election Day, make sure to visit your clerk’s office by 8:00 p.m. Be sure to check what documents you’ll need to bring when registering between now and Election Day — find more information here.
Voting by Absentee Ballot? If you’ve already requested and received your absentee ballot, ensure it reaches your city or township clerk’s office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. To guarantee your ballot is counted, consider dropping it off in person at your clerk’s office or a designated drop box, which are monitored and regularly checked. You can also take your absentee ballot to an early voting site and place it directly in the tabulator yourself (note: this option isn’t available to Detroit voters at this time).

All registered voters in Michigan have the right to vote by absentee ballot and you can request one in person at your local clerk's office. You can return your ballot by mail, drop box, at an early voting site, your clerk's office, or… pic.twitter.com/dNTZ0TU6DO
Early Voting Has Already Begun! Across the state, early voting is underway and available to all registered voters. Look here to see when and where early voting is available near you. Early voting polling locations may be different than your regular voting site.
Voting in Person on Election Day? Now is a good time to check that your voter registration is up to date and make sure you know where your polling place is. Some locations may have changed since the last election.
Michigan’s Secure Election System. Michigan prides itself on running safe and secure elections. The state’s decentralized voting system divides responsibilities across local, county, and state levels, providing checks and balances that strengthen election integrity.
Your Vote is Your Voice. No matter how you choose to cast your ballot this year — whether in person on Election Day, via absentee ballot, or through early voting — remember that your vote is your voice. Our democracy works best when everyone participates. Let’s make sure we all do our part.
