Event includes an opportunity for one-on-one conversations with state health experts
LANSING — State Sen. Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids) invites West Michigan residents to join her for a town hall on Thursday, May 16. The event will include the latest information and actions to clean up toxic PFAS contamination in local drinking water.
Several representatives of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will be available to speak one-on-one about individual health questions or concerns for 60 minutes before the town hall begins. The conversations will be on a first come, first serve basis.
During the town hall, representatives of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (formerly the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality) will present information on contamination in Cascade Twp. and the Thornapple River. The Michigan DHHS will present an update on new screening guidelines and the Kent County exposure assessment.
The public will be able to ask questions and provide comment.
Richard Rediske, Ph.D., who is a professor of water resources at Grand Valley State University, also will be available to answer questions from the audience.
