LANSING, Mich. (Dec. 19, 2023) — Today, Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids) announced that Todd Cook will become the new director of the Senate Business Office.

Cook is well known within the capital community, most recently having served as the director of legislative affairs for the Department of Labor and Economic Development (LEO). At LEO, Cook directed the team charged with creating the state’s Reconnect program and improving workforce initiatives and worker safety policies. Cook’s resume also includes two terms as chief of staff for former House Minority Leader Tim Greimel (D-Pontiac) where he managed the caucus’ communications, policy, and member services staff.

“The business office is central to all of the functions that contribute to the Senate’s success,” Sen. Brinks said. “Todd brings a wealth of experience in managing big teams and big projects, and he’s a coalition builder who shares my commitment to providing top-notch public service to the constituents of every district. I’m thrilled to be bringing him on to serve as business office director, and I know that he will continue the great work the department has already accomplished this year.”

The non-partisan business office oversees a number of key departments, including finance, human resources, Senate Police, information systems, and more. Cook will start in the position on January 8, 2024.
