Workgroup findings support senator’s call to set the strongest standards in the nation

LANSING — State Sen. Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids) issued the following statement on recommendations from the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team’s (MPART) Science Advisory Workgroup, supporting her call to set the strictest standards for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the nation:

“Michigan families and communities deserve clean water. I appreciate the hard work of MPART’s Science Advisory Workgroup members, and their science-backed recommendations, to set the strictest PFAS standards in the nation. I have been fighting for these protections. I especially thank the people in impacted communities for helping regulators understand the urgency of establishing MCLs for these substances, and I commend the willingness of Gov. Whitmer, EGLE and MPART to move stronger standards forward.

“I look forward to working with the administration to implement recommendations, clean up our water and keep Michiganders safe from toxic contamination.”
