LANSING — Sen. Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids) has issued the following statement on Gov. Whitmer’s State of the State address:

“I look forward to working with Governor Whitmer and my colleagues to take action on the issues that matter most to our constituents. That means new approaches to fixing our roads and infrastructure, reducing the high costs of prescription drugs, and prioritizing resources for students.

“I’m particularly pleased that Governor Whitmer highlighted efforts to improve maternal health and ensure we are committing adequate resources to improving literacy. These are issues I care deeply about and where we have real opportunities to advance equity. I am encouraged to have Governor Whitmer as an active ally in this fight.

“In my conversations with constituents, these topics are always at the forefront. I remain committed to working together to deliver common sense solutions for the people of Michigan.”
