Making Life More Affordable for Michiganders
Our budget drives down costs and makes life more affordable for folks statewide. We’re investing in programs that work:
- Free school meals
- Tax credits for seniors and working families
- Rx Kids
The Senate’s budget takes on the high rising cost of everyday essentials, prescriptions, energy, and car insurance. We’re giving direct care workers a raise, bonuses to our educators, and better benefits for our corrections officers. Senate Dems’ 2027 budget plan tackles the affordability crisis head-on.
Protecting Michiganders from Federal Chaos
Republicans in DC are throwing everyday people under the bus to line the pockets of the wealthy. Senate Dems are fighting back. Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill could throw 200,000 Michiganders off their health coverage, driving up costs for everyone. Hospitals stand to lose over $6 billion over the next 5 years and Michigan farmers lost $167 million last year due to tariffs.
Transparency & Accountability
Senate Dems are taking on the worst and most exploitative tactics used by wealthy corporations. We are cracking down on constant hikes in energy bills and hidden Ticketmaster fees and protecting your right to free and fair elections by making huge investments in security.
Growing an Economy for All
Corporations have rigged the system to avoid paying their fair share. Senate Dems are saying: no more. We closed loopholes that allowed Michigan’s most profitable corporations to get away with tax avoidance schemes, protecting crucial investments for our families and communities. Our budget drives investments to the people and places that drive our economy: entrepreneurs, child care providers, small businesses, and workers.
Supporting Students & Schools
While D.C. Republicans have proposed billions in cuts to education, Senate Democrats are prioritizing Michigan students and teachers with a record funding plan. We’re delivering a new per-pupil increase, boosting literacy rates, strengthening school safety and mental health, and giving educators a bonus. We’re also proposing a new funding formula that gives schools more predictability, setting them up for success for the next 15 years.
