This is not something to be proud of; it is a significant concern and jeopardizes the health of our communities.<\/p>\n
\nWe can agree: Michigan’s environmental legacy and the health of our communities deserve the strongest possible protections.\u00a0Instead, our backyards are quite literally the nation\u2019s dumping grounds for hazardous waste and more. For too long, our residents have had to bear the consequences.\u00a0The time to stand up and say \u201cenough is enough\u201d is right now \u2014 not after all of Michigan\u2019s rivers, fields, and neighborhoods are too toxic for us to enjoy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
That’s why, I’ve introduced legislation<\/a> (Senate Bills 246<\/a> and 247<\/a>) to modernize Michigan\u2019s hazardous waste management system and strengthen environmental protections for my district and communities across the state.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s critical we act in this moment to guarantee future generations can live in places like Romulus and Van Buren Township without fearing the health repercussions.<\/p>\n
