LANSING, Mich. (Dec. 1, 2023) — Sen. Mary Cavanagh (D-Redford Township) released the following statement on the appointment of Brian Galdes to the Michigan Suicide Prevention Commission:
“I am incredibly proud of the appointment of Brian Galdes to the Suicide Prevention Commission. A former Superintendent of the South Redford School District, Mr. Galdes has served our community with the needs of our students at the forefront of his leadership and mentored generations of Redford students, myself included. Recognizing the mental health crisis we are facing in Michigan, Brian has made suicide prevention, particularly among adolescents, a personal and professional mission as Growth Works’ Suicide Prevention Coordinator for the Western Wayne Suicide Prevention Coalition. With his advocacy and over two decades of experience in public education, Mr. Galdes brings a unique perspective and the experience needed to develop solutions to this critical issue statewide. I am excited to see Brian’s work with the commission, and I thank him for his service to our state.”
