LANSING, Mich. (Feb. 26, 2025) — Sen. Mary Cavanagh (D-Redford Twp.) has issued the following statement in response to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2025 State of the State speech this evening:

The governor’s State of the State address underscored the importance of putting people before politics by working together to center the needs of all Michiganders at the forefront of our work. By continuing to prioritize significant investments in accessible and affordable housing, economic and small business development, and partnerships in our local communities, I am committed to building a stronger, healthier future for residents of my district and throughout all of Michigan.

“As I hear the governor’s plan for Michigan’s future, I am looking forward to a year of collaborative policymaking, focused on developing solutions for the everyday issues facing our residents, from expanding access to safer, more affordable housing to lowering the costs of childcare, medications, groceries, and other essential expenses.”
