LANSING, Mich. (Aug. 1, 2023) — In response to Gov. Whitmer’s What’s Next address this morning, State Senator Mary Cavanagh (D-Redford Township) issued the following statement:
“Today, Governor Whitmer outlined a bold policy vision to strengthen and uplift some of our most basic principles for the health of our state — from ensuring reproductive rights to supporting working families through paid family leave to protecting the voting rights of Michiganders.
“As Chair of the Senate Finance, Insurance, and Consumer Protection Committee, I’m looking forward to advancing an agenda aligned with the Governor’s health focus, including addressing issues of prescription drug affordability, reducing barriers to insurance coverage and resolving outstanding issues of care for catastrophic auto accident survivors. My colleagues and I are ready to continue our work in the legislature this fall and I’m excited for what we will achieve for the people of Michigan.”
