CLEAN SLATE LAW

On April 11th, Clean Slate Day, the new expungement laws that were signed in October 2020 went into effect. You can find resources available for you and your family members who may be eligible to have their record expunged online at Michigan.gov that help to explain the laws and the expungement process.


APRIL COFFEE HOUR

Please join us for our next coffee hour on April 29, when I’ll be discussing financial literacy and best practices for managing your money. Joining me will be Alex Morris, the Assistant Vice President of Advocacy for the Michigan Bankers Association.

COVID-19 VACCINE INFO

Registration Now Open for Ford Field COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic  
All Michigan residents aged 16 and older are eligible to receive a vaccine at no cost. After the registration process is completed, people who have registered will receive an invitation when it’s their turn to schedule an appointment. Vaccine appointments will be scheduled a few days in advance.

How to register  
Pfizer and Moderna brand COVID-19 vaccines are currently being offered. Sign-up is available through these three options:  

  1. Online at meijer.com/register/CL2021  
  2. Text EndCOVID to 75049  
  3. Call the MDHHS COVID-19 Hotline at 888-535-6136 (press 1) 

Residents who don’t have access to the internet or need assistance navigating through the registration process can use the MDHHS COVID-19 Hotline to register. Call Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is expected that the call center will have long wait times, so calling is recommended only people who cannot register online or by text.

Remember, you can still get tested for COVID-19 statewide


COVID-19 FUNERAL ASSISTANCE

FEMA has made funding available to assist with the costs of funerals for those who have died of COVID-19. You can learn more about whether you qualify for funeral funding assistance and apply at FEMA.gov


COMMUNITY UPDATE

Thank you to Ms. Markavich and Ms. Askey of Romulus Community Schools for helping bring “Math Mights” for kindergarten to third grade for the Michigan Learning Channel. You can learn more about the new television program, the network, and their efforts by reading this wonderful April 12th article in The News-Herald.
