Dear Neighbors, As many celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday this week, I wanted to take a moment to share my thanks to each of you. I am thankful for this community and bestowing upon me the honor and responsibility of serving our community as your State Senator. I will continue to fight for policies that support justice, equity, and health. I am also thankful for vaccines that have helped slow and stall the worst effects of the COVID-19 virus and influenza. I am extra thankful this year that children ages 5 and up can get inoculated. If you have not gotten your vaccine or booster shot, visit the Wayne County COVID-19 Vaccination website to find a vaccine near you and schedule an appointment. And most dear to me, I am thankful for my family. I hope that you, too, can gather safely with your loved ones, those we choose and those who are related by blood, and enjoy a bountiful Thanksgiving dinner. I also want to acknowledge that for some, this time of year can be difficult—whether it’s from suffering through loss or the challenges that can sometimes arise around the holidays—and that there is always help available. There are resources available 24/7 and 365 days a year—even on holidays—for those who may find themselves in need of help and support. I just want to remind you that our regularly-scheduled e-news will be back next week but as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our office by email at SenEGeiss@senate.michigan.gov and by phone at (517) 373-7800. I hope you have a safe, healthy, and happy Thanksgiving—no matter how you celebrate it or with whom.
