TAYLOR, Mich. (Jan. 26, 2022) — Sen. Erika Geiss (D-Taylor) issued the following statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address this evening:
“As we approach the start of the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic, far too many Michigan families continue to suffer from stress due to immense personal loss and economic instability, especially among Black and Brown communities. Many of us also know that true equity in economic prosperity usually takes a push or shove.
“Governor Whitmer’s proposal to triple Michigan’s tax credit for low- and moderate-income Michiganders is exactly the type of nudge needed to bring economic relief to thousands of Michigan workers and their families. I look forward to working with the governor and my colleagues in the Michigan Legislature in continuing this critical work because unnecessary obstacles should never stand in the way of opportunities — and change — that we can collectively achieve.”
