LANSING, Mich. (Aug. 1, 2023) — Sen. Erika Geiss (D-Taylor) celebrates the signing of a historic and transformative state budget. With investments in education, infrastructure, diversity, equity, and inclusion, public health, and more this is a once-in-a-generation budget.

“Putting Michigan residents first, this budget delivers on kitchen-table issues — uplifting families struggling to make ends meet by expanding access to affordable housing and nutritious food; providing students with the resources needed to achieve their full potential inside and outside of the classroom; making investments to ensure workers receive fair pay and have access to job training programs; fixing roads, dams and bridges across the state; improving water quality and protecting our state’s natural resources; and so much more,” said Sen. Geiss.

“I was proud to help secure funding for several important projects in Senate District 1. My favorite part of the budget process was having the opportunity to participate in meaningful conversations with residents, local leaders, small business owners and organizations from our community. I look forward to witnessing this historic budget strengthen our state for years to come.”
