LANSING — Sen. Erika Geiss (D–Taylor) issued the following statement after the Michigan Senate passed legislation to legalize sports betting and internet gaming in Michigan:

“This session, we’ve worked with legislators on both sides of the aisle and the governor’s office to ensure the School Aid Fund comes out on top. It’s imperative that any changes in gaming law do not take funds away from our students, who’ve already endured far too many compounding cuts from the previous administration.

“Every dollar counts, because Michigan succeeds when we invest in our children. I’m pleased to see the progress made on this legislation and look forward to ensuring the best intent is maintained.”
