Say ‘NO’ to Longer Trains
The Norfolk Southern Railway Company has asked the federal government to allow their flagship Triple Crown Service — which runs through our district — to increase their permitted train length from 150 cars to 165, but they already pack trains with more than 180 cars. I’ve seen it myself!
Excessive train lengths account for road blockages Downriver, preventing emergency services from getting to people in need and complicating your ability to get where you need to go. Allowing more cars on the train will just make the problems worse.
No one should have to wait at a railroad crossing for TWO hours.
They’ve already denied our community a public hearing, but they can’t deny our public comment.
That’s why I’m asking for your help. If you’re tired of waiting for stopped trains, leave a note below by Wednesday, September 11 so I can mail your story to the Federal Railroad Administration before the end of the comment period. This is open to all in Michigan who have been affected by blocked crossings. Help us send a message loud and clear to the train companies that residents have had ENOUGH!
