Hertel on Whitmer plan to fix roads

LANSING — Sen. Curtis Hertel, Jr. (D–East Lansing) has issued the following statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address, during which she proposed bold action to fix Michigan’s crumbling roads:

“Michiganders deserve safe roads to drive on and a break from paying for car repairs, yet for years, hardworking taxpayers have been paying more and receiving less from their government. I’m glad Gov. Whitmer is taking action to fix our roads because their crumbling state is simply unacceptable and we can’t afford to wait any longer.  As legislators, it’s our job to get the work done and if the other side can’t put partisan politics aside to what should be a nonpartisan issue, we will.”

Sen. Hertel represents the 23rd Senate District in Ingham County that includes the cities of East Lansing, Lansing, Leslie and Mason, and the townships of Alaiedon, Aurelius, Bunker Hill, Delhi Charter, Ingham, Lansing, Leslie, Meridian, Onondaga, Stockbridge, Vevay and White Oak.
