Senator Hertel Issues Statement on Passage of State Budget

LANSING – Sen. Curtis Hertel, Jr. (D-East Lansing), minority vice chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, has issued the following statement regarding today’s passage of the Fiscal Year 2021 state budget:

“This budget agreement is the result of a genuine partnership between the Legislature and Governor Whitmer. I am extremely proud that leaders from both parties came to the table ready to put the people of Michigan first. While Michigan will still face challenges as a result of COVID-19, Michigan is now in a far better economic position than we had once anticipated thanks to Governor Whitmer’s science-based approach to combatting the virus. In every way, COVID-19 has been a challenge for Michigan leaders, but this budget is an example of what we can achieve if our end goal remains what is best for Michiganders.”
