LANSING, Mich. (Feb. 11, 2021) — Sen. Curtis Hertel, Jr. (D-East Lansing) today released the following statement in support of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s proposed Fiscal Year 2022 budget recommendation that was presented to a joint meeting of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees this morning:
“As we continue our focus to end the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Whitmer’s Fiscal Year 2022 budget recommendation is a forward-thinking response that makes bold and historic investments in our kids and Michigan’s future. Investing in affordable childcare and post-secondary education and career training is critically important to the overall well-being and success of Michiganders and our state. A budget is statement of our priorities, and the governor’s priority is creating a path forward so that every Michigan resident can thrive.”
