Holding Government Accountable
It’s called gerrymandering, and it’s a huge problem in Michigan.
For nearly 30 years, the Republicans have used high-tech software to unfairly clump voters into geographic “districts” to increase their chances of winning elections. For example, Democrats won a majority (50.2 percent) of the vote in 2016, but only received a minority (43 percent) of the seats. The Michigan Senate Democrats have a plan to create an independent commission to restore integrity and confidence in our election process by redrawing districts in a fair manner.
Under this plan, we will end the corrupt gerrymandering practice because voters should choose their politicians, not the other way around.
