Sen. Hollier on Gov. Whitmer’s commitment to funding education

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Adam Hollier (D–Detroit) has issued the following statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2020 Fiscal Year budget that includes a $507 million increase to the education budget.

“Michigan’s classrooms are overcrowded, outdated and our students are failing their literacy tests. For too long, people have said that our citizens are our greatest resource and yet, have been unwilling to invest in them. Gov. Whitmer promised to take the hard steps to fix the roads, invest in our children’s education and ensure every person has clean drinking water. Her budget does all three things and I’m committed to getting it passed. Michiganders deserve nothing less, and we can do better.”
