LANSING, Mich. – State Sen. Jeff Irwin (D–Ann Arbor) has issued the following statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address, during which she spoke about creating a fair economy, increasing access to clean drinking water and fixing the state’s public schools.

“It is refreshing to hear a Governor talk about priorities that matter to real people. Gov. Whitmer understands that we need an economy that works for everyone, clean drinking water from our faucets and great schools in every community. I was encouraged to hear her make a strong statement against discrimination because no one in Michigan should risk losing their job, or be refused service because of who they are.”
