Senator Veronica Klinefelt proudly represents Michigan\u2019s 11th<\/i>\u00a0Senate District, which includes all of Eastpointe, Roseville, and Fraser, as well as parts of Clinton Township, Macomb Township, and Detroit. She has been married to her husband, Randy, for 39 years, and they have four children. Senator Klinefelt is a 30-year resident of Macomb County with over 25 years of service in government.<\/p>\n

I<\/span>n 1998, Klinefelt ran for and won a seat on the East Detroit School Board to ensure her kids could receive a world-class education. During her time on the board, she worked with another board member to uncover one of the largest public corruption scandals in Macomb County.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Wanting to do more for her community, Klinefelt soon won a seat on the Eastpointe City Council, a position she held for eight years. She then served for ten years on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, where she fought to strengthen Macomb\u2019s community mental health system, update the region\u2019s 9-1-1 system, and fix the roads. Klinefelt has also served on the 8 \u00bd Mile Drain Board, as President of the Michigan Association of Counties (MAC), and as a representative on the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Klinefelt was elected to the Michigan State Senate in 2022. During her first term, she has championed good government policies and investment in our communities. She also advocates for veterans, seniors, public safety, and infrastructure maintenance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Senator Veronica Klinefelt, a proud Army brat and 30-year resident of Macomb County, believes there is nothing more patriotic than serving one\u2019s community. Her passion is good government: that which keeps sewage out of our lakes, helps us retain great teachers, supports our firefighters and police officers, and funds our parks and community centers. She is serving her first term in the Michigan Senate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a mom, Klinefelt decided to run for a seat on her local school board in 1998 when she saw her children\u2019s education being shortchanged. After quickly realizing the underfunding of our schools was only the tip of the iceberg, she ran for, and won, a seat on Eastpointe City Council, a position she held for eight years. She then served for 10 years on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, where she fought for a strong community mental health system, a veterans\u2019 services department, and an updated 9-1-1 system.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klinefelt has also served on the 8 \u00bd Mile Drain Board, as President of the Michigan Association of Counties, and as one of two representatives on the National Association of Counties Board of Directors.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
