KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Jan. 27, 2021) — Sen. Sean McCann has issued the following statement in response to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address this evening, in which she mentioned Pfizer’s role in helping to end the COVID-19 pandemic:

“They say hindsight is 20/20, but it’s truly remarkable that in 2018, Pfizer had the extraordinary vision to be the first company to tap into the Good Jobs for Michigan program and create 450 jobs, and to invest $465 million into expanding their Portage facility. I couldn’t be prouder to see them as a worldwide leader today in the fight against the coronavirus with the production of the COVID-19 vaccine, and the efforts of hardworking Kalamazoo County residents who continue to build our way back to a healthier, safer future.

“While there is more work to be done to eliminate COVID-19 and any variants coming our way, I’m committed to helping the governor and her administration to end this pandemic because something tells me we’re not quite done showcasing our innovation and Michigan pride just yet.”
