LANSING, Mich. (June 30, 2021) — Sen. Sean McCann (D-Kalamazoo) has issued the following statement regarding today’s passage of the state’s K-12 budget for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2021-22:

“I was proud to cast a ‘yes’ vote today on behalf of Kalamazoo County’s school administrators, teachers, and students who have all been pushed to their limits by the COVID-19 pandemic over the last year. While today’s record-setting K-12 budget funding was a step in the right direction, we must ensure this record funding will be sustained. There is still more work to be done and I look forward to working on long-term policy, with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, that provides students with the greatest opportunities to succeed from the start.”
