Michigan Senator-Elect Sean McCann talks about policy and civil engagement

If you could pick only three issues for the State Senate to focus on for the duration of this term, what three would you pick and why are they important?

McCann: Boosting our support and our resources and our funding for our traditional K-12 schools and wrapping into it skilled trade education and higher ed all under the bubble of education.

I’m extremely happy that we have adopted successful reform in gerrymandering so the issue that kind of partners with that is campaign finance reform. So that’s an issue in the same ballpark. It’s about dark money and such on both sides influencing politics. I mean, most people I know aren’t donating $40,000 to a candidate.

The third is working with the governor to fix the infrastructure. Whitmer ran on fix the damn roads but above that is providing clean, safe water.
