LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Sean McCann (D-Kalamazoo) issued the following statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s decision to ramp up Michigan’s PFAS response by creating the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy and expanding the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team:

“The reorganization of the MDEQ and expansion of the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team are important steps forward to ensure Kalamazoo County families can trust the water from their taps now, and in the future. I am grateful for Gov. Whitmer’s continued commitment to safeguard our drinking water, and I look forward to partnering with the administration to protect our communities.”
