State Senator Sean McCann

July 21, 2021

Dear Friend,

I’m inviting you to join me, Attorney General Dana Nessel, Rep. Christine Morse, and Rep. Julie Rogers for a virtual town hall next Tuesday evening on Michigan’s new Clean Slate expungement law, which I was proud to vote in support of last fall — because without it, too many Michigan citizens were held back from employment, housing, and other opportunities by nonviolent mistakes they made long ago.

I hope you can join us for this important discussion and learn more about your rights! We will be joined by expert panelists from the Department of the Attorney General, Michigan Works!, and Kalamazoo Defender. Town hall attendees will also hear legal experts explain how these new laws expand eligibility to petition for an expungement and create a new process that will automatically seal certain, nonviolent conviction records if a person has remained conviction-free for a period of time.
