LANSING, Mich. (Dec. 5, 2022) — Sen. Sean McCann (D-Kalamazoo) issued the following statement regarding Pfizer’s announcement this morning of a $750 million Modular Aseptic Processing (MAP) 2 investment planned at its Kalamazoo manufacturing facility:

“Pfizer has long been a critical employer in the Kalamazoo region and a welcome ally in medical advancements, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is exciting to know they’ve decided to expand their current facility. Both Michigan’s economy and its residents stand to benefit from such an incredible partnership. I am proud Pfizer will continue to call Kalamazoo County home and eager for the groundbreaking advancements that will undoubtedly come from this decision.

“My many thanks go out to all who helped make this development possible. I stand ready to help in whatever way I can for Pfizer, West Michigan residents, and any other employers providing good-paying jobs who are eyeing Michigan as a place to land. Our future is bright and full of possibilities for those interested in the Great Lakes State.”

Kalamazoo is home to the largest manufacturing site in the Pfizer network. Today’s announcement will create 300 jobs and further establish this site as one of the most advanced sterile injectable facilities in the world.
