I was so glad to connect with some of our region’s early education champions at last week’s Michigan AEYC Fall Legislative Luncheon.

Tricia Grifka, Early Childhood Services Director at Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency, & Michigan Head Start Board VP; and Ericka Taylor, Executive Director of Early Childhood at Saginaw Intermediate School District are two amazing leaders in their field, and great partners in our work to improve outcomes for every kid.

Schools wanted flexibility and stability in their funding, and more resources. We listened. We worked. We delivered on all fronts.

I spoke with Midland Daily News about the $126 million we just passed for school safety and mental health. This builds on the permanent, ongoing $600 million+ in school funding and the nearly $180 million for student health and mental health support that Michigan Senate Democrats approved earlier this summer.
