As of Monday, April 5, all Michiganders age 16+ are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. If you or a loved one has yet to receive a vaccine or are unsure about where to find the best information, our office has compiled a list below:
Oakland County ‘Save Your Spot’
The Oakland County Public Health Division has launched the “Save your Spot” vaccination effort, in hopes of vaccinating as many residents as possible. Now that all Michiganders are eligible to set an appointment, please visit the Oakland County Vaccine Hub where you can find more information related to vaccination sites in Oakland County, scheduling an appointment, and other resources pertinent to this effort.
Additionally, here are a few more locations that are currently administering COVID-19 vaccines in Oakland County:
- Ascension Providence
- Beaumont ‘Save My Shot’
- McLaren Healthcare
- St. Joseph Mercy Oakland
- Kroger
- Rite Aid
- Meijer
Ford Field Vaccination Clinic
Registration for the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Ford Field in Detroit is now open. It will operate from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week, for eight weeks under the federal government’s vaccination pilot program.
Sign-up is available through these three options:

- Call the MDHHS COVID-19 Hotline at 888-535-6316 (press 1)
- Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- It is expected that the call center will have long wait times, so calling is recommended only for people who cannot register online or by text.
People who have registered will receive an invitation either by voice or text when it’s their turn to schedule the appointment. Vaccine appointments will be scheduled a few days in advance.
NOTE: Please try to register for the Ford Field site only one time. If you register too many times, the system may label you as a bot.
COVID-19 VACCINE FOR BREASTFEEDING AND PREGNANT WOMEN
There have been a lot of questions about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Like a lot of the information surrounding this virus, what we know from a scientific perspective has continued to evolve as more information becomes available.
I sat down with Dr. Russell Faust, Medical Director of the Oakland County Public Health Division, to discuss the vaccine because I had questions as a new mom, and it presented a great opportunity to get more information out to our community. Take a few minutes to catch our conversation!
THE PANDEMIC ISN’T OVER
While vaccine eligibility has expanded and sites are becoming more available, it is important that we continue to acknowledge the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic. Just this past Saturday, the state of Michigan recorded over 8,000 positive COVID-19 cases, and Michigan is currently leading the nation in new COVID-19 cases overall.
If a vaccination appointment becomes available to you, I encourage all of you to get vaccinated, and to continue practicing safe social distancing guidelines like masking up, avoiding contact with those who may be sick, and washing your hands. We must remain vigilant and protect the populations who are most vulnerable. The fight is not yet over, and it’s up to each of us to do our parts to keep our communities and our loved ones safe.
