MI VACC TO NORMAL REACHES 50%

Governor Whitmer announced this week that Michigan has administered 7 million COVID-19 vaccines. To date, 50% of Michiganders have received at least one dose, with 38% of Michiganders being fully vaccinated, moving the state closer to its goal of equitably vaccinating at least 70% of Michiganders ages 16 and older as soon as possible.

With reaching 50%, Michiganders are now able to safely ease some restrictions:

  • Those fully vaccinated and without symptoms are no longer required to wear a mask at indoor residential gatherings.
  • Masks are generally not required outdoors unless a gathering has 100 or more people.
  • Organized sports teams no longer need to routinely test fully vaccinated participants for COVID-19.
  • Masks won’t be required for non-contact sports during practice or games, but they will be required for contact sports.

The next step is to get to 60% of eligible Michiganders vaccinated, once we reach 60% plus two weeks, we will be able to safely:

  • Increase indoor capacity at sports stadiums to 25%.
  • Increase indoor capacity at conference centers, banquet halls, and funeral homes to 25%.
  • Increase capacity at exercise facilities and gyms to 50%.
  • Lift the curfew on restaurants and bars.

So, if you haven’t yet — get vaccinated! Appointments are available near you! To find a location, check out one of our previous e-newsletters, or visit VaccineFinder.org.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

Mon, May 3 through Fri, May 7 marks Teacher Appreciation Week this year! Over the last year, teachers have been faced with challenges like never before, and have gone above and beyond for their students. Educators are the backbone of our nation, and here on Team McMorrow, we are lucky to have two retired teachers on our staff, Lisa and Debbie, who continue to inspire and educate every day.

THANK A NURSE, SUPPORT A SMALL BUSINESS!

This week we got to double up on thanking the dedicated nurses who have worked tirelessly over the last year to help our communities battle through this pandemic along with celebrating National Small Business Week.
Thank you to Donut Cutter in Berkley for helping us celebrate yesterday by helping send their coffee and delicious donuts to some incredibly hard-working nurses at Beaumont Royal Oak.

Small Business Week

From the minute the first case of COVID-19 was identified in Michigan last year, nurses have been heroes. They have helped our loved ones heal, supported worried families, and consoled the dying.

If you would like to show your support for small businesses or the dedicated hospital staff in our community, learn how to below:

COFFEE HOUR CALENDAR REMINDER

As a reminder, every week there is a session, our office hosts a virtual coffee hour on our social media channels, Friday at 1:00 PM. This is where I break down what happened that week in session, provide some COVID-19 updates, state news and, occasionally, we have a guest to come speak on a special topic.

If you’d like, click here to access a link we’ve created and that will add our coffee hours to your calendar!
