LANSING — Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-Royal Oak) issued the following statement after the news of two confirmed COVID-19 cases in Metro Detroit, including one in Oakland County, and after reviewing guidance from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control, and the World Health Organization:
“In the wake of the recent news regarding confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our area, and out of an abundance of caution for all of our residents, our office will suspend all in-person, in-district constituent events and shift them to video conferences or telephone town-halls, or for certain large events, postpone them until further notice.
“Our top priority is to continue to provide uninterrupted representation and services to the residents of the 13th District while doing everything we can to be proactive, practice responsible social distancing, and mitigating the potential spread of coronavirus.”
