SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Jan. 27, 2021) — Sen. Jeremy Moss (D–Southfield) issued the following statement on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address tonight, during which she spoke about bolstering our local governments and communities to mitigate the effects of COVID-19, build integral infrastructure, and fix our criminal justice system:
“Tonight, Gov. Whitmer laid out her plans for 2021 to continue our fight against COVID-19, further reform in our criminal justice system, and fix our crumbling roads and bridges. I’m ready to partner with the governor to turn this vision into legislative action because Michiganders deserve leaders who deliver results.
“The governor recently signed into law legislation I sponsored to remove barriers for reformed offenders seeking employment and provide more tools to local municipalities needing to repair aging bridges, and I look forward to building upon our efforts in these areas. And as we work to get out of this global pandemic, there are solutions we’ve put on the table with the governor to keep our communities healthy and thriving. The legislature must come together in a bipartisan way to act on them.”
