LANSING, Mich. (July 9, 2021) — Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield) and Rep. Samantha Steckloff (D-Farmington Hills) issued the following statement after Wednesday’s storms in Farmington and Farmington Hills caused downed power lines and trees, along with a power outage that has impacted more than 100,000 people in the region:

“We’re very grateful to Farmington/Farmington Hills community members who have been working around the clock to pass out water, clear trees, rescue pets and animals, and help those who are sick or elderly and without power. Both mayors have issued emergency declarations and we’ve been in close contact with each city to ensure that they have all the necessary resources they need as they assess and clean up the damage, and work to keep people safe.

“If you need help or support, please do not hesitate to reach out to your local or state officials. We are committed to providing you with helpful information while we deal with the impacts of this emergency.”

The City of Farmington Hills has created a resource guide on their website, and the City of Farmington is posting news and helpful information for residents on their Facebook page.
