Dear Neighbor:

I’m Jeremy Moss, and I’m proud to serve as your State Senator and as the Assistant Democratic Leader in the Michigan Senate.

I am also honored to serve as the top-ranking Democrat on the Senate Regulatory Reform Committee, as well as a member of the Senate Local Government Committee and the Senate Economic and Small Business Development Committee. As part of the leadership team, I continue to look for opportunities to present bipartisan solutions to ensure Michigan is at the forefront of economic and community development.

As we recover from the impacts of the pandemic this legislative session, I will continue to push for the values we care about in our district. This includes working on the big policies in Lansing that will hold the powerful accountable and seeking solutions to the specific issues that impact us back home.

One of my biggest initiatives continues to be increasing accountability in state government. Michigan ranks last in the nation in government ethics and transparency, and I’ve long been on a mission to change that. I will also continue fighting for tax relief for working families and ensuring the taxes you do pay are returned to our community to fund the essential services in our district. I’ve always believed we are best served when Lansing invests in the needs of our local communities, especially in our housing and infrastructure.

If I can ever be of help to you, please contact me. If you want to stay informed about my work at the Capitol, please sign up for email updates online at SenatorMoss.com.

RESPONDING TO THE PANDEMIC

As the major challenges of the pandemic subside, we will still deal with some of the long-term impacts of COVID-19 in our communities. Southeast Michigan is an economic hub for our state during normal times, but our communities have been some of the hardest hit by the pandemic in these abnormal times. I supported supplemental spending which provided an extra $300 in unemployment benefits for those who were displaced from their job during the height of the pandemic in 2020.

As a part of my duty to the state, I also served on a COVID-response workgroup in the Senate last year and made recommendations to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on how to keep Michigan workers safe during a health crisis. In addition, I partnered with Attorney General Dana Nessel on a bipartisan bill package aimed at protecting Michigan residents from the pervasive reports of price gouging during this global health emergency. I will continue to push forward this legislation to ensure no one is profiting off human misery during any future emergency.
