LANSING, Mich. (March 24, 2022) — Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield) and Rep. Kyra Bolden (D-Southfield) today issued the following statement after the Legislature passed a $4.8 billion supplemental budget appropriations bill package with $380 million allocated for road and bridge repairs and pump station upgrades to mitigate flooding and $654 million allocated for housing stability and rental assistance:

“We proudly supported today’s supplemental budget that includes funding we delivered to meet our community’s most pressing needs: housing and infrastructure. It provides significant investment to make overdue repairs to our roads and bridges and upgrade pump stations after we endured historic storms last summer. It also directs state support to a homeowner assistance fund, housing and community development fund, and rental assistance program to ensure housing stability for vulnerable people in our district. Today’s vote will produce lasting changes that will assist our constituents to enhance their quality of life.

“We also funded a much-needed sidewalk improvement in Southfield that will create a safer walkway along the Southfield Freeway service road that will protect pedestrians traveling through our hometown. We look forward to working with our colleagues in the days and weeks ahead to deliver the remainder of federal funds back to the communities in our district and around the state.”
