LANSING, Mich. (Jan. 11, 2023) — Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield), the Michigan Senate President Pro Tempore, has issued the following statement regarding being sworn into office in 102nd Michigan Legislature:

“I am honored to preside over the Michigan Senate as President Pro Tempore during this historic 102nd Legislature and eager to serve in the first Senate Democratic majority in nearly 40 years,” Sen. Moss said. “I am ready to hit the ground running to serve my constituents in the 7th Senate District with the tenacity and passion they expect. They have entrusted me and our Senate majority with an incredible responsibility to provide real and lasting solutions for the challenges we face. We are prepared for this monumental task ahead.

“I will enthusiastically champion the priorities laid out today by Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks that support Michiganders in every community, regardless of their station in life. This includes passing the first bill I’ve introduced this term to ensure the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act protects our LGBTQ community from discrimination.

“Our majority is officially sworn in. Let’s get to work.”
