PONTIAC, Mich. (Feb. 20, 2025) — Last Friday, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Dept. arrested a Pontiac mother who, according to authorities, had abandoned her three children in their home for several years.
The children — a 15-year-old boy and two girls, ages 12 and 13 — were discovered living in deplorable conditions after their mother allegedly left them sometime in 2020.
Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield) and Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) released the following statement:
“We are disturbed and heartbroken that these precious Pontiac children were forced to survive for several years in squalor and abandonment. The conditions inside this home are shocking and despicable, and we thank law enforcement for their actions to rescue these children and hold their mother accountable.
“Our teams will work with urgency to review gaps in the system and strengthen the law so tragedies like this can never happen again.”
