The Senate Oversight Committee reported Senate Bills 669 and 670 favorably, sponsored by Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield) and Sen. Ed McBroom (R-Waucedah Twp.). The bipartisan legislation would work to expand the application of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to the Michigan Legislature, the governor and the lieutenant governor all while uplifting more transparency within state government.
“There is no better way to mark Sunshine Week than to advance this legislation and demonstrate our commitment to shining more light on our work in the Capitol,” said Sen. Moss. “I look forward to finally bringing our effort to expand FOIA to a vote before the full Senate for the very first time.”
