LANSING — Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield) issued the following statement after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2021 budget recommendations were presented to a Joint House and Senate Appropriations Committee meeting this morning:
“I toured the contaminated site in Madison Heights and it’s disgusting — not only disgusting, but it was incredibly dangerous. I am thankful that Gov. Whitmer is proposing a budget that prioritizes cleaning up contaminated sites like this. Her fund for ‘Rapid Environmental Contamination Response’ will ensure that pollutants entering our water, ground, and air are identified and abated quickly.
“I also strongly support the executive recommendation for per pupil funding that includes the largest funding increase for classroom operations in 20 years. It also would provide more resources for successful early education programs like the Great Start Readiness Program. I’m ready to work to pass these proposals.”
